Balloon accident not first: city man
WINNIPEG (CNS) — A Saskatoon man is challenging a hot-air balloon company’s claims that it has never been in a crash similar to the one near Winnipeg on Saturday.

Doug Bates said his own experience with Sundance Balloons sounds familiar.

Bates and his wife, Shelley, were on a balloon ride near Saskatoon with six other passengers in June 2006 when their balloon crash-landed, tipped upside down and burst into flames. Bates said the fire engulfed the group and the pilot as they tumbled out of the basket.
